This English-language variant was printed on Japanese glossy cardstock and distributed alongside Pikachu in the Spring 1999 issue of Hyper CoroCoro, released on March 1, 1999.
It features a gray star rarity symbol with a yellow “PROMO” overlay, similar to overseas Black Star Promos.
However, several unusual layout and symbol differences make this promo particularly distinctive and collectible.
